ROW & CO. FARMS
Welcome to Row & Co. Farms! I'm Julie Rowland and THIS is my farm! Well technically its not just mine, my husband and kids live here too! But either way we have a farm and it still excites me every time I get to say it! You see, my family and I didn't start out on a farm, we were living in a house in a typical suburban neighborhood and my husband and I were both full time career firefighters for our local town and that was what we both planned to do until we retired. Well obviously that isn't what happened to us- and long story short - we took a huge risk and I quit my job as a firefighter and we decided to buy a farm that we would make our homestead and business. We both loved the idea so much that we put our house up for sale the next day and started looking for land! People thought we were crazy and brave and stupid and some thought it would never work but we did it anyway! Nine months later we found and bought what would become Row & Co. Farms! We decided to buy this old, abandoned 10 acre farm in 2017 and have been giving it lots of love and attention since then with renovations to all the buildings on the property as well as rebuilding the soil and pastures. In 2020 we bought an additional 10 acres next door so expansion has begun! The farm has been our home for almost 5 years now and we have grown the homestead to include a flower farm, livestock, honey bee apiary, chickens, vegetable gardens, and fruit orchards. And Our family is working on growing a lot of our own food as well as raising our own meats. This life we have chosen is the hardest thing I have ever done and I wouldn't change it for anything. We get to be our own bosses and work our own land and do OUR thing and although it isn't easy I would take this hard life any day because its MINE! I would love for you to follow along while you see the transformation of the land and our journey into homestead life. We are so excited to chronicle our adventures on the farm and daily life during the seasons. Come see what we're cooking, growing, harvesting, preserving, raising, creating, and hosting this week!
