Canning Carmelized Onions


I love to take onions and turn them into shelf stable Carmelized onions that I can quickly grab and add to recipes like soups and stews, or to top off burgers or potatoes. It’s so delicious. The recipe is quick and easy and once your onions are ready you just can them up using safe canning practices. Here’s the recipe for you.

Ingredients:

16c of onions sliced

1 stick of butter

1 tbsp garlic powder

2-3 tsp salt

2-3 tbsp worsteshire sauce


Combine ingredients into a crock pot slow cooker and allow to cook down for 8-10 hours. Stirring occasionally to distribute flavors. After cooking place hot onions into hot jars for canning process. Top off with the onion broth. Wipe down rims of jars with vinegar and then place your lids and rings. Process jars in a pressure canner according to safe canning practices. Half Pints = 75min

Pints = 90 min
